Places And Spaces - 2025-10-13
Today we’re travelling back in time to 1975, when Donald Byrd released his timeless album Places and Spaces. This bold step into the fusion of jazz, funk, and soul became a touchstone for generations of musicians, DJs, and producers.

Next, straight from New Zealand, comes a new single from Sanoi. Try It is part of a larger release, Augenblick, which—quite surprisingly—is available only on cassette. You can grab it on Bandcamp, and thankfully, each copy comes with a digital download, so you won’t need to dust off a cassette player. But hurry up - there's only 100 pieces of this album available.
A true blast from the past arrives courtesy of Swedish artist Christoffer Berg, producing under the alias Hird. Keep You Kimi, released in 2005, is a perfect example of what’s often called “Nordic lounge” — smooth, relaxed, and irresistibly jazzy, made for cosy winter afternoons by the fireplace.
Closing today’s playlist is a brand new release from Tom Misch. This funky, soulful tune is, as Music Is To Blame describes it, “a plea … to a higher power to help him win a girl back.”
I hope these tunes keep you warm through these autumn days. As always — stay safe!
