Welcome to another edition of Blue Note Dispatch. The last few days' temperatures have probably drained some of our energy, but I hope this new playlist brings a little of it back.
We'll open the selection with the latest release, the Disconnect EP, from Hamburg duo Session Victim in collaboration with Kenneth Scott. "Dream Theory" truly lives up to its name - a warm, dreamy thing that drifts along on shimmering tremolo motifs, the soft glow of a bass guitar, and a distant saxophone line weaving through it all. The kind of track you want to sink right into.
Always a pleasure to have DJ Koze on the list. The Hamburg producer follows last year's wonderfully eclectic Music Can Hear Us by pulling things right back - to the understated deep house pulse of his early Pampa records. "Wo's Patric?!?" is the AA-side of the Spiralen EP. The title says it all, as the man put it himself - fortunately, Patric is always there. So beautiful that he exists.
