First Summer - 2026-04-03
No one would've believed in the last years of the 19th Century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space
Welcome, fellow sonic travellers. We're back again with new picks just in time for the upcoming holiday. Days are finally longer, so let's pick up the pace and start by visiting the land of dope house music.
Johannes Kolter is a quite prolific and immensely talented producer from Germany. Although this track was released last year, it's perfect as the opening piece for this week's selection. "First Summer" is a sun-drenched cut from his Kinki Taxi EP — five tracks of feel-good, sample-rich house straight out of Cologne.
"Can We Still Be Friends" by Barry Can't Swim and Laurence Guy is a perfect spring piece because it combines Barry's jazz-trained ear for strings and melody with Laurence's knack for understated, dubby textures. It's nostalgic, a little melancholic, but ultimately hopeful. The kind of track that sounds like an old friendship catching its second wind.
Last but certainly not least, we've got our synth maestro Viken Arman with a freshly released single "The Light" (as always, I encourage everyone to listen to the extended version). This mellow mix of modular grooves, acoustic textures and world music influences is pure Viken. <3
Now relax, listen to the music and enjoy the next few days!
