Hello, kiddos. Today is June 1st, which means it's International Children's Day, a celebration for all of us. I hope today's selection brightens up your daily routines.
Hello, kiddos. Today is June 1st, which means it's International Children's Day, a celebration for all of us. I hope today's selection brightens up your daily routines.
We'll start in an unusual way, with a slice of pure progressive house released by the ASTIR label. Remix duties go to Gai Barone, who skilfully stretches Ben Summers' original version to nearly nine minutes. This genre doesn't visit us too often, but there's something in this track that made me stay with it a little longer.
And now a quick jump back to 1996, when some of us were still children and DJ Shadow released his debut album Endtroducing....., famous for being built almost entirely from samples. This calm, melancholic track, with its dusty drums and drifting vocal, still captivates thirty years on from its release.
We close the selection with a release from the legendary Hamburg label Dial (fans of Lawrence and Ben Kaczor will surely feel right at home). For Dial25 II, the compilation she curated herself, Soela chose "Hunting", a beautiful mix of deep house with elements of ambient. Rhythmic yet soft and warm at the same time, it's the perfect track for a late evening on headphones.
